A 2002 graduate of Sikeston High School, Puckett batted .356 for Blackburn, which finished tied for second in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. In recognition of his efforts, Puckett was a first-team all-SLIAC selection for the second consecutive season and was also named Blackburn's Most Valuable Player.
Puckett began the season as Blackburn's starting centerfielder and finished the year as the Beavers' starting shortstop. He led the Beavers in at-bats (160), runs (35), and steals (25) while tying for a team high in hits (57). His 14 extra-base hits also tied for most on the team, while his 72 total bases ranked second.
A transfer from Shawnee Community College, Puckett is the son of Phil and Sondra Puckett.
Blackburn, the SLIAC champions in 2002 and 2004, has not finished lower than second in the conference in the last five seasons. The Beavers are 85-24 in the conference and 125-83 overall in that span.
