PORTAGEVILLE - Harold Douglas Dial, 85, died May 11, 2007, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born Nov. 21, 1921, in Lake County, Tenn., to the late William Wright and Addie Elizabeth Nobles Dial, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II.
On June 6, 1942, in Boekerton, he married Edith Hawkins, who preceded him in death on June 19, 1981.
Six brothers, Louie Dial, Nobles Dial, Billy Dial, Jack Dial, Richard Dial and Marshall Dial; and five sisters, Katy Everett, Matt Burrus, Garnett Dial, Polly Roberts and Christine Heath, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Mary Gail Dial of Portageville; two grandchildren, Christy Dial of Jackson, Miss. and Paul (Melissa) Dial of Tonganoxie, Kan. and two great-grandchildren, Noah and Mary Kate Dial of the state of Kansas.
Funeral services were conducted today at the First Baptist Church in Portageville. The Rev. Dr. Buck Morton and Ron Dunavin officiated.
Burial with full military honors followed in the Portageville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Don Rone, Kevin Rone, Trey Rone, Mike Rone, Michael Rone and Sam Tillman.
Honorary pallbearers were: Bud Sisson, Don Underwood, E.B. Nace, J.K. Swilley, Fred Harmon, Ron Fisher, Doug Riddick, Gary Baker, Bob Gill, Wally Kellams, Fred Alexander and Larry Bradfield.
