Chaffee, Oran earn key wins

CHAFFEE -- The Chaffee Red Devils improved to 15-9 on the season with a 7-4 victory against East Prairie on Tuesday at Chaffee.

Adam Uhrhan was the winning pitcher, throwing all seven innings and allowing four runs (one earned) off 11 hits with seven strikeouts and three walks.

Zach Secoy was the loser in six innings of work, striking out seven and walking three.

Chaffee's Chris Hanback went 2-3 with a home run and a double. Andy Hendrix also clubbed a home run in going 3-3. Trenton Horman went 2-4.

East Prairie's Lucas went 3-4. Johnson was 2-4. Secoy was 2-4.

Chaffee will play Monday in Class 2, District 2 action at Hillhouse Park in Charleston as they take on Woodland at 1 p.m.

BELL CITY -- The Oran Eagles improved to 17-4 on the season with a 15-5 victory against Bell City.

Both teams took advantage of Bell City's small ballpark dimensions as five home runs were blasted.

Bell City's Clay Dover went 3-3 with a pair of homers, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Eagles.

Caleb Seyer went 3-5 with a home run and four RBIs. Tyler Beardslee went 4-5 with a home run, a double and three RBIs.

Others were Kody Campbell (2-3, HR, RBI), Chase Seyer (2-3, 2 RBIs), Alex Chasteen (1-4, 3 RBIs), Steven Dooley (2-5, RBI), Jake Carter (2-2) and Cody Dirnberger (1-3).

Chasteen was the winning pitcher, throwing five innings and allowing seven hits, five runs (four earned), four strikeouts and three walks.


Cassie Graviett had a triple and Taylor Irwin added a double for the Eagles (15-1). Wendy Eftink was 2-for-5 and Callie Kielhofner picked up the win.
