Three facing drug charges

Thursday, July 19, 2007

SIKESTON - While the search continues for one individual, three others are now facing drug charges in court.

Robert Simmons Jr., 27, and Roderick Randle, 24, both of Sikeston, along with Jason Moore, 30, of Oran are charged by Scott County Prosecutor Paul Boyd with drug trafficking and are currently in custody at the Scott County Sheriff's Department under $100,000 bond each.

The arrests came after a search warrant was served at 9:30 p.m. Friday night at 832 Ruth St., Apartment A, in Sikeston by the Special Operation Group for DPS, along with the narcotics unit. Simmons, Randle and Moore were arrested inside the residence after approximately 10 grams of crack cocaine were found.

During the operation, the Missouri National Guard provided air support with a helicopter to luminate the area where the search warrant was being served.

"The area is very dark with a lot of vegetation, where people or contraband items can be concealed. This particular area that has a lot of places to hide and the light provided by the helicopter made it safer for officers working the area during this operation," said Department of Public Safety Director Drew Juden in a press release.

Lewis Moore III, 32 of Sikeston is still being sought in connection with the case. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is requested to call 471-6200 or Crimestoppers at 471-1500.
