LOUDON, Tenn. -- Ruby K. Medlock Staples, 90, formerly of Charleston, Mo., and Memphis, Tenn., died at 9:10 a.m. March 17, 2007, at Baptist Health Care in Lenoir City.
Born May 29, 1916, in Gleason, Tenn., daughter of the late John and Florence Rodgers Medlock, she lived in Charleston for 21 years before moving to Memphis in 1969. In 2004, she moved to the Neighborhood of Tellico Village in Loudon. She was of the Baptist belief.
On May 23, 1936, she married Clarence Eugene Staples who preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 1984.
Two brothers, Paul Medlock and Dudley Medlock; and one sister, Mildred Jones; also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: one son, Clarence Eugene Staples Jr. of San Antonio; one daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Joe Braden of Tellico Village Community in Loudon; four grandchildren, William Staples of Austin, Texas, Judy Hancock of Midland, Texas, Melinda Gee of East Prairie, Mo., and Samantha Russell of Athens, Tenn.; and five great-grandchildren, Everett Gee, Barker Gee, Alexandra Russell, Austin Hancock and Alex Hancock.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Michael Brewer, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Charleston, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Smith-Griggs Cemetery near Wyatt.
Pallbearers will be: Mike Medlock, Charlie Hirsch, Dave Beasly, Jim Beasly, David Ketchum and Blaine Singleton.
