HERNANDO, Miss. - Harold Mims, 74, died May 9, 2007, at Baptist DeSoto in Southaven.
He was born July 26, 1932, in Charter Oak, Mo., son of the late Clarence and Lillie Bell Lewis Mims. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War. He worked for Noranda Aluminum Plant, where he was affectionately known as "Hollywood," and he operated several service stations in Sikeston before retiring.
He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Sarah Mims of Atlanta, Sherman and Kay Mims of Hernando, Brent and Denise Mims of Essex, Mo. and Derek and Terra Mims of Benton, Mo.; four brothers, Jerry Mims and Wesley Mims of Kokomo, Mo., Lesley Mims of Dexter, Mo. and Raymond Mims of St. Louis; one sister, Ethel Rudd of Flora, Ind.; and eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Charlotte Keller Mims; four brothers, Alfred Mims, Edward Mims, David Mims and Dale Mims; and two sisters, Alva Kurk and Zeda Acord, preceded him in death.
Friends may call from noon until time of funeral services at 1 p.m. Friday at the Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. The Rev. Jarrett Jameson, pastor of Journey Baptist Church in Olive Branch, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, Mo., with full military honors.
