NEW MADRID -- Howard J. "Howie" Hanson, 80, died Aug. 29, 2006, at the Veterans Home near Cape Girardeau.
Born May 15, 1926, in Columbus, Wis., son of the late Lloyd Mozart and Ethel Mueller Hanson, he was a retired welder and musician. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the American Legion Post 595.
On June 4, 1949, in Piggott, Ark., he married Pauline Hurley who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Herbert and Jana Hanson of Lilbourn; two brothers, Paul Hanson of the state of Florida and Neil Hanson of Cottage Grove, Wis.; three sisters, Alice Anderson of the state of Ohio, Jean Hodges of the state of Florida and Joan Butterfield of the state of North Carolina; and 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Tom McCanless will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery at New Madrid.
Pallbearers will be: William Moore, Vince Goode, Daniel Larimer, Mark Green, Mike Hafley and Rick Ling.
Honorary pallbearer will be Herbert Hanson.
