BROSELEY -- The Sikeston Lady Bulldogs fell to the Charleston Lady Bluejays in the consolation side of the Lady Royals Classic at Twin Rivers High School on Monday night, 41-34.
Charleston outscored Sikeston 14-4 in the second quarter to open up a close game. The Lady Bulldogs cut into the lead after the third quarter, trailing only by five.
The Lady 'Jays closed out the game outscoring Sikeston 11-8 in the fourth to seal the win.
Senior Latoya Gipson continued her good play early in the season leading Sikeston (1-6) with 18 points. Freshman Monika Gray-el had a nice game in the paint with 11 points for the Lady Bulldogs.
Charleston will face Senath-Hornersville on Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. in one consolation semifinal.
The Kelly Lady Hawks defeated the Clearwater Lady Tigers on Saturday afternoon in Twin Rivers, 57-21.
Kelly led 32-11 at the half and were never challenged by the Lady Tigers. Debra Hall led Kelly with 25 points and Brittany Ponder chipped in with 10 points.
Kelly (5-1) will face Greenville in the semifinals on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
The New Madrid County Central Lady Eagles moved into the consolation semifinal with a 80-21 win over East Carter County Lady Redbirds on Monday night.
Freshman Shameka Williams led NMCC with 18 points and fellow freshman Jasmine Flennoy chipped in 10 points, as the Lady Eagles led 43-11 at halftime and never looked back.
Senior Heavenly Wren had 12 points for the other double-digit scorer for NMCC. NMCC (3-7) will face Clearwater on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. Clearwater defeated Kennett 44-37 to reach the consolation semifinals.
