SIKESTON - A.C. Waters, engineer for Sikeston, was named by Gov. Phil Donnelly to take over the position of surveyor of Scott County.

SIKESTON - Due to weather conditions that will not permit safe landing, Santa Claus will be forced to use other transportation when he arrives by helicopter at 6:30 p.m. at the Mid-Towner Village Shopping Center.

SIKESTON - On Monday night, Sikeston City Council members approved annexation of Fellowship Baptist Church property and instructed the Sikeston Department of Public Safety to begin issuing tickets to those who park illegally in handicapped parking places. They also approved an application for a park grant for City Park improvements.

SIKESTON - The Ferguson Medical Group recently hosted a coloring contest. The winner received a $25 gift certificate to Toys R Us. Teresa Walls presented the certificate to the winner, Megan Underhill.


SIKESTON - Members of the Sikeston Community Choir were busy putting the final touches on the 30th Annual Winter Concert this week in preparation for the main performance at 4 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston.


NEW MADRID - New Madrid County Collector of Revenue W.A. "Dub" Scobey has announced his retirement, effective Dec. 31. Scobey began his employment with the county on April 1,1956. Scobey has recommended Dwayne Nowlin of Portageville to fill his position.
