CHARLESTON -- Juanita Padgett Cherry, 85, died at 7:50 a.m. May 24, 2007, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born Dec. 11, 1921, near Wyatt, daughter of the late Anthony Wayne and Julia Lenore WIlcox Padgett, she had lived in Mississippi County her entire life, where she was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Charleston. She retired from the Brown Shoe Company and was a former member of the Charleston Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.
On Sept. 28, 1940, she married Luther S. Cherry, who preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 1999.
Three brothers, Robert Padgett, Roy Padgett and Jim Padgett; and one great-
grandson, Sidney DeMann, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: two daughters, Barbara Tillman of Dixon and Frances Goodrum of Imperial; one brother, Allen Padgett of Mayfield, Ky.; one sister, Ruth Ward of Sun City, Ariz.; and four grandchildren and two great-
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday . The Rev. Keith Huffman of Ironton will officiate.
Burial will follow in the I00F Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Rick Smoot, Butch Smoot, John Whitehead, Charlie Holley, Fred Turner and Bob Hearnes.
