Your View: Don't believe him

Thursday, January 10, 2008

Michael Jensen's "Little Changes Chip Away at Our Identity" is completely off-

base. Instead of applauding Senator Loudon's legislation, he should be criticizing Loudon's waste of legislative time and resources. While Jensen would have us believe that America is a Christian nation and while the majority may ascribe to that faith, America is more known as a diverse nation--a virtual melting pot of people. Such diversity is held in disdain by Loudon's proposed legislation.

In addition, laws as such as Loudon's proposal make religious beliefs part of state statute. That would be a clear violation of the US Constitution. You know, the Constitution---another document that an "overwhelming majority of Missourians" also believe.

I hope the readers don't take Michael Jensen's "Chicken Little" warnings seriously. Then again, when someone uses the phrase "shove your diversity where the sun don't shine", it is probable that no one will.
