CHARLESTON -- John Wayne Cross, 44, died at 3:40 p.m. Aug. 31, 2006, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born Nov. 6, 1961, in Cairo, Ill., son of the late John W. and Mary Lois Sheckell Cross, he moved to Charleston in 2001 after having lived in Wyatt most of his life. He was employed by his friend, Elvin Barker, in construction as a roofer.
Survivors include: one son, Scott A. Cross, stationed with the U.S. Air Force in Wichita Falls, Texas; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jena Cross and Robert Taber and Sarah Hurt of Wyatt; two brothers, Randy Cross of Charleston and Joey Cross of Wyatt; one sister, Kathy Tetley of Columbia; one granddaughter, Kaelynn Shelby Taber of Wyatt; and a special friend, Melissa Pickett of Charleston.
In addition to his parents, one sister, Johnny Lynn Cross, also preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Moore's Landing east of Wyatt.
McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
