NEW MADRID -- Samuel Huey Hector, 82, died Aug. 16, 2007, in a vehicle accident near Matthews.
Born March 24, 1925, in Kaiser, Ark., he was the son of the late Samuel McCormick and Della Bell Hector. A member of American Legion Post No. 595, Veteran of Foreign Wars and the Disabled Veterans Association, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
He married Shirley Westcoat who survives of New Madrid.
Other survivors include: four sons, Samuel D. Hector of Dexter, Ricky Hector of Wappapello, Randy A. Hector of Malden and Timmy Hector of Essex; one daughter, Charlotte Yvonne Morris of Dexter; one brother, Charles Troy Hector of Washington; one sister Icy Minor of Alabama; and 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Nell Walker.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. today at the Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday.
Burial will follow at the Bloomfield State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
