SIKESTON - The Sikeston Bulldogs outlasted the Dexter Cagers in an action-

packed game Friday night to take the subregional tournament championship with a 39-33 score before an overflow crowd in the Dexter High gymnasium.

SIKESTON - Students from elementary schools in Sikeston collected $285.90 for the county heart fund campaign.

SIKESTON - Capt. Leon Culp was named Sikeston Elks Club Law Enforcement Officer of the Year during a recognition dinner Saturday night at the lodge home. The award was presented by Gerald Howard, chairman of the Law Enforcement Banquet, sponsored each year by the Elks.

SIKESTON - Michelle Moll is the March Standard Democrat Calendar Girl. Miss Moll, the daughter of Mike and Janet Moll of Sikeston, plans to attend Ole Miss. and major in business. She was third runner-up in the 1997 Miss Sikeston Contest.

SIKESTON - The House of Refuge for Abused and Battered Women hopes to provide a shelter for battered women by getting the entire community involved. Getting together to discuss the project were Altrusa Club members Betty Robinson, Lois Baker, Susan Kendig, Carrie Yanson, Linda Frankum, Linda Hamra, Jackie Beal and Norma Porter.

SIKESTON - The Scott County Central faculty and Parent Coordinator Janet Herron recently presented the parents of Scott County Central with a new math workshop. The parents and students were shown various activities than can be made from recycled materials.
