Your view: Say thank you

Tuesday, February 26, 2008

Dear Editor,

The past few weeks Southeast Missouri has been bombarded with weather problems. As we make do the best we can to keep our families as safe and comfortable as possible, I see emergency crews leaving their families to provide electrical service and safe highways for us. Too often, I'm sorry to say, I take the service these men and women provide for granted. Of course, some would argue that' "that is their job". This is a valid statement and I believe the workers understand that. However, too often in today's work world we find a lot of people not having the work ethic called dedication to the people they serve. As I watch and talk with both Electrical and Highway service personnel, this is a great force of people dedicated to getting the job done well, and as fast as they can.

We are blessed with people trying to serve our country, cities and rural areas with their heart and soul. I don't ever want to be guilty of not appreciating them again. I will try to always remember to say,"Thank You For Your Service", to our military troops, and others working to make our lives and the lives of our families safe and comfortable. Your sacrifice is appreciated more than I can say.
