Born July 23, 1922, in Puxico, son of the late Samuel Lee and Flora Hawks Chaney, he was a 1940 graduate of Puxico High School. He lived most of his life in St. Louis where he worked in management for 30 years at the Union Electric Company, was a member of the Canaan Baptist Church and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving with the construction battalion (See Bee's).
Survivors include: two brothers, David G. Chaney of Florissant and Louis W. Chaney of O'Fallon; two sisters, Rose Gillett of Flint, Mich., and Flora Lee Mansbridge of Fisk; and two grandsons, Paul Adamson and Brian Adamson of Reno, Nev.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra K. Adamson; one brother, Sam Chaney; and one sister, Helen Payne.
Visitation is at 5 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Sara "Sally" J. Chaney of Webster Groves will officiate.
Burial with full military rites conducted by the Stoddard County Veteran's Honor Team will follow in the Puxico Cemetery.
