NEW MADRID -- Gill Edward "The Kewanee Kid" Blankenship, 53, died Jan. 20, 2007, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born Aug. 30, 1953, in Sikeston, to Pat Gill Blankenship of New Madrid and the late Edward "Ed" Blankenship, he was a songwriter and a Division II court clerk for 22 years at New Madrid.
In addition to his mother, survivors include: his aunt and uncle, Jay and Weba Blankenship of Kewanee; his great-aunt and uncle, Bob and Florence Gill of Portageville; and a host of cousins and many special friends.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Jack Ketcher will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be: Lynn Brotherton, Dennis Pipkin, Eddie Poynor, Teddie Poynor, Jimmy Dale Davis and Jim Mills.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Bill Boyd, Harold Higgerson, James Brotherton Sr. and Randy Frye.
