Speakout 1/25

Friday, January 25, 2008

I am sick and tired of people coming to my country and reaping the benefits illegally. The ones that are here legally and paying taxes, that's different. But when it comes to defending somebody for something we have believed all along, like Christmas, I don't think I should have to defend something like that. If you don't like this country and the way it does, don't try to change it. Pack your duds and go home.

I was watching Channel 12 News and saw where Mrs. McCaskill was supporting her choice for president. I feel that she need to support the person that supports the United States, than the person she chose. I'm sorry Mrs. McCaskill, if you ever go up for election, I won't be able to vote for you. You made the wrong choice. Us veterans want an American for a president, Democrat or Republican. I could care less which one, but I want one that's going to support us.

This is in regard to the sarcastic school teacher that wrote about the poor employee who wasn't treated well at Christmas - about the bonus. Sounds like she didn't receive one either. As far as the two occupations she named, educators and police officers having the most important jobs, and also underpaid, I know for a fact that they are underpaid. They are not the only professions underpaid. They're not the most important - try nursing. As far as the other employees of the school, maybe you should try operating without them. Maybe "you" should go back to school.

Shaky platform

It would be funny if it wasn't so tragic. Reading the article about Attorney General Jay Nixon running against Blunt for governor, his platform starts out with criticism for Gov. Blunt cutting Medicaid to some Missouri citizens. All along Nixon has found a way to seize the homes and personal property of elderly citizens who have worked all their life. If they had Medicaid and received in-home help, the state of Missouri gets the right to seize everything after they die. That wouldn't be a bad thing, if the elderly or family were told this up front. I know of three families this has happened to and no one was aware of this practice. If you never worked, never tried to buy a home, have generations of the same family living on welfare, food stamps, etc. then you're in the clear. Only the elderly that have tried to do the right thing and paid as they went and never received any government aid until they were old and sick. As Ron Peeks' letter to the editor said, "Things get worse if you happen to be the person your loved one trusted to leave in charge." If this was an outside private firm coming into Missouri doing this, A.G. Nixon would be all over them for fraud. I know some of you say don't sign unless you understand. Unfortunately, most of us have a completely unfounded trust the State will not cheat us. Ever heard of sub-prime interest rates? Congress is holding hearings on that. It's just that most politicians don't really care about the elderly, unless they get good P.R.

I would like to know if they have restored dental. I heard they were going to restore dental in '08 of January. So far, it has not been restored yet. This is for somebody that's handicapped and is need of dental that's on Medicaid.

According to a spokesperson from the Division of Family Services, changes will be made soon regarding the dental program.

I want to speak out on Obama. He's nothing but a fake. When he comes on, I do him just like I do Mr. Bush. I turn him off and walk out. He only slings mud at the other candidates. I am for John Edwards. Obama is another Hussein or Bin Laden. Everybody is going to be sick of him before it's over with. I sure hope he doesn't get in office. If he does, we're all going to be sick.
