SIKESTON - Sikeston High School's track team took second place at the Scott-

Mississippi County track and field event at Charleston Friday. Charleston won with 71 points, while Sikeston received 64 1/2 points.

SIKESTON - The public is invited to an educational meeting of which recommendations of the Missouri Governor's Conference on Education, held in September 1966, will be presented. The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Sikeston High School.

SIKESTON - A three-day conference of Rotary International was launched this afternoon, designed to inspire Rotarians to greater service. It started leisurely at the Country Club and Holiday Inn.

SIKESTON - After months of visits from prospective businesses from out of town and out of state, the former Sikeston Woodworking Co. building, 120 Industrial Drive, was sold to a local resident this week. Economic Development Specialist Mary Doggett confirmed Thursday the building was sold to Kenneth Storey of Sikeston.

SIKESTON - Employees of Storey's Market place and Food Giant's Corporate office held a March of Dimes Pie Throw on the parking lot of Market Place Tuesday. Over $190 was raised by the group. Storey's Market Place Manager Mike Riney was all smiles after being hit by several pies. Kim Gosnell was the coordinator of the event.


SIKESTON - Dave McDonald captured Super Pro honors at the Sikeston Drag Strip on Saturday night. McDonald held off Glen Nunn, the 1996 points champion running a 6.19 dial with a reaction time of 5.18. Pro winner, Jeff Hays of Herrin, Ill., won $400 for his first place win. With a reaction time of 5.27, his dial was 8.61 and ran 8.64 at 79 miles per hour.
