SIKESTON - Preston R. Smith, 75, died at 10:30 a.m. April 15, 2007, at his home.
Born Oct. 3, 1931, in Chicago, to the late John and Betty Vance Smith, he attended Dulittle High School and graduated from Baldwin High School in Baldwin, Mich. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.
In 1967, he married Rosemary Dixon, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Preston Smith Jr. of Chicago; one daughter, Vanetta Smith of Chicago; one sister, Hewene Veldez of Chicago; one special son, Howon Pottinger of Sikeston; and three grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Andrew Morris; one brother, William Rucker; and his stepfather, Henry Rucker.
Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Home in Charleston.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Opportunity Church of God in Christ in Charleston with Steve Betts, pastor, officiating.
Burial with full military honors will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
