SIKESTON - Theon F. "Sonny" Compas Jr., 65, died at 10:51 p.m. May 19, 2007, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Born Dec. 3, 1941, in Sikeston, to the late Theon John and Mary Frances Hill Compas, he was a graduate of Sikeston High School Class of 1960 and was a negotiator and right of way specialist for Missouri Department of Transportation. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
On Nov. 29, 1975, in Sikeston, he married Patricia Acord, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Jason Compas of Sikeston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Angie and Randy Stark and Laurie and Chad Stark of Sikeston; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Richard and Wanda Compas of Farmington and Roger Compas of Battle Creek, Mich.; and six grandchildren, David Lee Brashears, Sydney Stark, Malena Compas, Nicholas Stark, Riley Stark and Josie Stark, all of Sikeston.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with military honors accorded him by the Missouri Funeral Honor Guard Unit from Jefferson City. The Rev. Richard Rolwing, senior priest in service at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church will officiate.
Pallbearers will be: Chad Stark, Randy Stark, David Lee Brashears, Gene Acord, Terry Williams and Jim Wyrick.
Honorary pallbearers will be: John Koenig, Jeremy Hill, Jason McKee, Richard Eggers and Mike Myers.
