SIKESTON -- Minnie Lee Marcy died peacefully, surrounded by family May 20, 2007, at Missouri Delta Medical Center. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed.
She was born Aug. 12, 1924, in Lilbourn, to the late Oscar and Mary James.
She was married to L.D. Ramsey on Nov. 23, 1942. She later married James Marcy, Sr. on April 27, 1969, who also preceded her in death April 21, 1994.
She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Sikeston. She worked at the International Show Co. in Sikeston until she retired. She also volunteered many years at Missouri Delta Community Hospital as a Gray Lady. She also worked at the Sikeston Headstart in the "Grandmother" program.
She is survived by two children: one daughter, Mary Ellen Johnson of Sikeston, and one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Karen Ramsey of Nashville, Tenn. Other survivors include three grandchildren and their spouses: Lisa Leible and her husband Steve, Elizabeth Brooks and her husband Doug, all of Sikeston, and Jeff Ramsey and his wife Kim of Nashville; and five great-grandchildren, Lauren and Chris Leible, Brittany Belt, and Madeline and Zachary Brooks, all of Sikeston. She is survived by four sisters, Veda Vaught of Bertrand, Linda Alliston of Miner, Naomi Mayberry and Wanda Tidwell, both of St. Louis; three brothers, W.O. James of Belleville, Ill., Cecil James of Jackson and Clifford James of St. Louis; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, J.L. James and Charlie James; and one sister, Mary Etta Barnes.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ponder Funeral Home, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Larry Davis will officiate.
Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Paid obituary
