Reading bonus
Stacey Russell, a fifth grade teacher at Scott County Central Elementary School, kisses a pig during an assembly Wednesday afternoon. Principal Tim Thompson challenged the students to read five books each for a total of 1,000 books and score an average of 80 percent on their reading tests from Jan. 13 to Feb. 13. If they achieved this, Thompson said he would kiss a pig. The final result was 1,469 books were read with an 80 percent test score average. Both Thompson and Russell kissed the pigs, which are owned by Dale Nedrow.
