SIKESTON - Concerns are being raised about the condition of the old Methodist Church columns in the downtown Sikeston area. Blair Moran, chaplain of local Henry Meldrum American Legion Post 114, said Friday that the large flag flown from the columns on certain holidays, will no longer be able to fly there. Moran explained that since the first year it flew on the columns, the crew has anchored the flag at the bottom. In high winds, the flag can act like a sail which, he said, could, "bring the whole thing down."
