SIKESTON -- The Sikeston Department of Public Safety has arrested four individuals, clearing three robberies and two shootings while seizing drug paraphernalia in the process.

Richard L. McCoy Jr., 25, of Haywood City was arrested in Malden Monday evening by DPS detectives on an outstanding parole warrant.

During the follow up investigation, it's believed McCoy was involved in the Break Time robbery on March 26; a purse snatching incident at the Wal Mart parking lot on March 25; and an attempted robbery at Wal Mart on March 8.

New Madrid County Prosecuting Attorney Lewis Recker has charged McCoy with two counts of first degree robbery, one count of second degree robbery and one count of armed criminal action. McCoy is currently being housed in the Butler County jail on the parole warrant and is being held without bond on the current charges from New Madrid County.

A shooting around 1 a.m. Monday morning led to the arrest of one subject while another subject was treated and released from Missouri Delta Medical Center. According to DPS reports, Kenneth Clay, 23, was treated and released for a gunshot wound to the lower portion of his right leg. Information on the shooting was sketchy, but Clay named the suspect as Lloyd Gilmore, who was arrested a short time later at the Mid Towner Motel. Gilmore, 25, of Sikeston, was charged by Scott County Prosecutor Paul Boyd with one count of first degree assault and one count of armed criminal action. Gilmore is in custody at DPS awaiting transfer to Scott County under $200,000 bond.

Dwayne R. Gilliland

On Friday, DPS detectives were able to obtain enough evidence to arrest Cornelius David, 17, of Charleston. David was involved in the shooting of a 14-year-old near the old Lincoln School after a party on March 23. The 14-

year-old was shot one time in the hip after another shot was fired from a moving vehicle into a crowd of people leaving the party. David is currently being held in Mississippi County under $175,000 bond.

A search warrant last Friday by DPS drug detectives led to the arrest of a Springfield man. After gaining information concerning drug activity, detectives obtained a search warrant for the suspect's room at the Mid Towner Motel. A search of the room yielded a quarter pound of marijuana, along with other drug paraphernalia. Dwayne R. Gilliland is charged with felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and is currently in Scott County jail under $75,000 bond.

Over the weekend, DPS received a report of a break-in at the VFW ball park. Suspects broke into the concession stand, the announcer's booth and storage sheds by the home dugout.

Although nothing appears to have been taken at the time of the report, anyone with information is requested to contact DPS concerning this incident. A reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and prosecution of the persons responsible.
