SIKESTON - The Junior Chamber of Commerce will conduct a softball program this summer for boys not accepted by the organized Little League program. The program is not intended to compete with Little League, but to supplement it.
SIKESTON - Four positions have been filled on the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. The voted were counted Tuesday morning by Chamber administration. Elected were Steve Huffstutler, Bill Neel, Mark Walker and Sonny Glaus.
SIKESTON - An earthquake structural study of six schools was approved by the Sikeston R-6 Board of Education Tuesday. Also approved during the meeting at the central office were: Textbook Advisory Committee selections, Sikeston Vocation Sending School student fee increase, employment of staff for the 1987-88 school year; and an insurance matter.
SCOTT CITY - An Action Fund Program grant my help a grain export business locate in the SEMO Port Authority and provide Scott County with an economic boost. Mitch Robinson, executive director of the Cape Girardeau Area Industrial Recruitment Association, explains that a company is looking to build a facility that will handle bulk commodities. "What this means to the Scott County regions is that the company will be purchasing grain (corn, wheat, soybeans, etc.) within the region."
