Bryant Johnston

EAST PRAIRIE -- Bryant Allen Johnston, 63, died Feb. 16, 2008, at the Wood County Hospital in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Born Nov. 1, 1944, at the Hough Township in New Madrid County, to the late Lexie and Iva McClendon Johnston, he lived in New Madrid and Mississippi counties all his life. He was the owner/operator of Johnston Transport leased to Edwards Transportation Company in East Prairie and was of the Baptist belief.

On July 23, 1977, in East Prairie, he married Carol Ann Scott, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: four sons and one daughter-in-law, Beachie Todd Johnston, Jody Curtis Johnston, Joshua Grant Johnston and Eric Bryant and Crystal Johnston of East Prairie; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Edith Moore of Dallas and Imogene and Nathan Gulledge of St. Louis; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Malcome and Carolyn Johnston and Medwick and Evelyn Johnston of East Prairie and Golder and Carolyn Johnston of Jacksonville, Fla.; and seven grandchildren, Amanda Johnston, Beachie Todd Johnston Jr., Mary Ashley Johnston, Madelynn Johnston, Mason Johnston, Heidi Johnston and Myleigh Johnston.

He was preceded in death by: one son, Chris Johnston; two brothers, Loyce Johnston and Dennis "Denny" Johnston; and three sisters, Katherine Shannon, Florence Polly Laramie and Kay Dutil.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Jon Archie will officiate.

Burial will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
