Born Sept. 8, 1925, in Harmony, Ark., son of the late T.O. and Georgie Hess Hartlein, he was a truck driver for Commercial Trucking before retiring.
On Sept. 13, 1942, in New Madrid, he married Dorothy Houser who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: four sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Charlotte Hartlein of Callihan, Texas, Don and Suzanne Hartlein of Portageville, Jerry and Margie Hartlein of Gainesville, Fla., and Larry and Nelda Hartlein of Salem; one brother and sister-in-law, Gorman and Jean Hartlein of Sikeston; 10 grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, six great-grandchildren and 14 step great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.
Four sisters and three brothers preceded him in death in addition to his parents.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. A.J. Wollenburg, pastor of Concordia Lutheran Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
