FLORISSANT -- John Albert "Jack" Pool, 93, formerly of East Prairie, died at 5 p.m. April 11, 2007, at Delmar Gardens North Nursing Center.
Born April 12, 1913, in Mississippi County, son of the late William and Josie Gardner Pool, he lived most of his life in Mississippi County where he was engaged in farming. In 1944, he moved to St. Louis where he was employed by Gus T. Henge Co. as a truck driver and paint shop foreman. He moved back to East Prairie in 1978 and was a member of the First Church of God of East Prairie. In 2000, he moved to Florissant and was a member of the Community Christ Fellowship Church of God in Hazelwood.
On Sept. 12, 1936, in East Prairie, he married Mary Jane Banks who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Bill Riley of Sun City Center, Fla.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Gene and Nina Pool of Town and Country and John C. "Curt" Pool of Florissant; one brother, Paul Poole of Cape Girardeau; one sister, Frankie Washburn of Caruthersville; and three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
One brother, Clifton Poole; and two sisters, Pauline Pool and Pearl Phipps, preceded him in death.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, where services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday. Larry Smith will officiate.
Burial will follow in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
