SIKESTON - Two shootings at occupied residences are under investigation by the Sikeston Department of Public Safety.
Sikeston Department of Public Safety officers were called to 229 Welter St. at about 9 p.m. Friday. The victim, Doreen Calvin, and her three children were in the residence at the time the shots were fired through the living room window.
"No one received injuries but several shots were fired from just outside the living room window," stated Director of Public Safety Drew Juden in a news release. Officers were on the scene until around midnight investigating the incident and collecting evidence.
Due to a domestic call from earlier in the day, officers are looking for a subject who may have information regarding this shooting, according to Juden.
A residence at 436 Coleman was also hit by gunfire.
Officers at the scene were told by neighbors that they had heard shots in the area around 9:15 to 9:30 p.m. Friday. A vehicle at the residence as well as the house received damage from several shots fired from the street directly in front of the residence.
According to the victim, Roy Jean Turner, she was at the house all evening but did not hear gun shots or notice the damage until she went to her car Saturday afternoon.
"Due to similarities found at both scenes, officers feel that the incidents are connected and the investigation is continuing," Juden said.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call DPS at 471-4711 or Crime Stoppers at 471-1500. All information can be kept confidential and rewards are offered for information leading to the arrest of those involved.
