SHAWNEE, Kan. -- Ruth Charlene "Cricket" Warren Merrick entered into eternal life at 7:14 p.m. Jan. 3, 2007, at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Shawnee.

A devoted wife and mother, Cricket and her family were active in the First Baptist Church of Charleston, Mo., and most recently, the First Baptist Church in Jefferson City, Mo.

She was born Jan. 11, 1928, in Blodgett, Mo., to the late Harry Thomas and Eva Marie Warren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Jake Warren and Robert Lee Warren (Margaret), one sister, Ethel Lois Duff (Boyd). She is survived by one brother, Harry "Joker" Warren (Julia) of Charleston and Greta Candace Watson (Murray) of Mart, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Virginia M. Walinow of Kansas City.

Cricket and Bobbie Melton Merrick were married Oct. 12, 1946, in Cape Girardeau. They had recently celebrated their 60 year union. Born to this union were five children, one son and four daughters. John W. Merrick (Jane) Diehlstadt, Ret. Major Christy J. Merrick and Candace L. "Candy" Merrick of Shawnee, Robin M. Clark (Byars) of Vienna, W. Va., and Camella R. Folsom (David) of Basehor, Kan.

She is also survived by five grandchildren, Robert Caldwell Merrick of Springfield, Mo., Adrianna Risner, Brittany Louise and Byars Benjamin "Ben" Clark of Vienna and Mallory Grace Folsom of Basehor. Also surviving are two great-

grandchildren, Connor Joseph and Bryce Robert Merrick of Springfield, Mo.

Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m. Sunday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Michael Brewer, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Charleston, will officiate.

A memorial service will be conducted at the First Baptist Church in Jefferson City at a later date.
