DEXTER (SMNS) - Global Fuels LLC biodiesel plant, located on County Road 731, should be operational by Jan. 1.
The plant had, according to statements from co-owners Harold Williams and Jerry Bagby, had been expected to be up and running sooner but was delayed by the weather and the holidays.
Bagby said the plant should be ready for operational and functional testing by Dec. 18. "But it's going to be hard to get the testers and people like that to do anything during the holidays," Bagby said, "because nobody's going to want to be away from their families at that time."
The contractor, he said is Stuttgart, Ark.-based AgriProcess Innovations. The company is providing the equipment for producing the biodiesel, soybean oil and glycerin.
Bagby said the testing would commence at the beginning of next year, with actual production of biodiesel to begin later in January.
