EAST PRAIRIE - Walter Hearlon Bratcher, 88, died at 3:50 p.m. Dec. 28, 2006, in the East Prairie Nursing Center.
Born Nov. 10, 1918, in the Windyville Community near East Prairie, son of the late William Mace and Katie Elizabeth Sipp Bratcher, he worked for many years in St. Louis as a machinist before returning to East Prairie in 1977. He was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church in Sikeston.
On June 4, 1946, at Charleston, he married Rue Betty Miller, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Robert Hearlon Bratcher of East Prairie; two daughters and one son-in-law, Carolyn Jean and Darrel Hubbard and Marilyn Ann Bratcher of East Prairie; six grandchildren, Julie Ann Brooks and Diana Kay Wheatley of East Prairie, Brian Paul Hubbard of Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, Lorrie Anne Heichelbech of St. Charles, Carley Ann Schaffer of Wenonah, N.J., and Robert Walter Bratcher of Houston; and 10 great-grandchildren and two great-stepgrandchildren.
Two brothers, Charles Bratcher and William Bratcher, and four sisters, Orpa Parker, Betty McLaughlin, Elsie Stokes and Ella Douglas, preceded him in death.
Visitation is at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. A.J. Wallenberg will officiate.
Burial will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
