SIKESTON - John D. Morrison has been hired by the mayor of Sikeston to police automobiles parked in the downtown area not paying the parking meters. The meters were installed and first used Monday.
SIKESTON - Lt. James E. Stone resigned from the Sikeston Police Department to take a job with the state liquor department. Stone had been with the police department for seven years and had quit once before.

PARMA - Races have developed for four of the five offices to be decided in the general election scheduled April 7. Barbara Knight is opposing incumbent Mayor Doyle Crow. Candidates for city collector are Betty Hardesty, Frances Carter and Shirley Payne. Seeking the office of city marshal are Thomas Miller, George L. Whitaker and Hollis "Doc" Lindley. Carl Steven Lewis is unopposed in Ward 1 and in Ward 2, Harold Lawrence is opposed by Floyd L. Shaw.
CHARLESTON - Estimated expenditures for the 1987 consolidated budget in Mississippi County have been placed at $1,702,766.55, according to the budget message submitted by County Clerk Junior DeLay.
SIKESTON - It's been 37 years since Sikeston Senior High School's "A" Office had a new look, but things are about to change. Approximately 1,500-square feet will be added to the area, additional space which will be located to the north of the principal's office and connected to the side of the kitchen area.
SIKESTON - Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Inspection team were in Sikeston on Tuesday to conduct their annual bus inspection. Each year the Troop E inspection team covers the 13-county patrol area and gives all buses a thorough inspection for the safety of the children.
