SIKESTON -- The Sikeston Department of Public Safety is investigating a fire which occurred at about 3:26 p.m. Saturday.
According to Capt. Jim Hailey, fire division commander for DPS, the fire apparently started in a garage and spread to the residence at 115 Ruth Street.
The garage was destroyed and damage to the home was described as being moderate.
A cause for the fire has not yet been determined, according to Hailey.
SALCEDO -- An abandoned barn was destroyed in a fire Friday.
According to the Sikeston Department of Public Safety Fire Division, which assisted the Morehouse Volunteer Fire Department on a mutual aid request, the fire was reported at about 11:15 p.m. two miles west of Salcedo on Highway Y.
