MALDEN -- Family and friends of Dr. and Mrs. William E. "Bill" Morehead are invited to attend a celebration in honor of the couple's 50th wedding anniversary from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Malden Country Club.
Morehead married the former Patricia "Pat" Riegle Oct. 20, 1956, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Memphis, Tenn. They first moved to Pine Bluff, Ark., where Morehead served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. The couple then moved to Kennett in 1959 and in 1963, they moved to Malden, where Morehead partnered with another general practitioner, Dr. Wayne Croom, at the Croom-Morehead Clinic (which later became the Morehead Clinic).
Mrs. Morehead has served as a commissioner for the governor and was instrumental in obtaining and administering the Bootheel Youth Museum and Bootheel Higher Education Center in Malden. She's served as a deacon in the First Presbyterian Church and volunteered as a Girl Scout leader for many years. She also worked many years as the office manager for her husband's practice.
The couple have four children, Patricia Kilgore of Birmingham, Ala., William Morehead Jr. and Robert Morehead of Memphis and Elizabeth Morehead of Los Angeles; and eight grandchildren.
