I would like to once again thank all our sponsors for the Redneck Barbecue.
It was a great weekend for the competition and our competitors who represented Missouri, Tennessee and Kentucky had a good time. Some of the teams were local or had been here before, while others joined us for the first time.
As chamber director I was pleased to hear from our visitors compliments about our community and the people in it. These teams spend a lot of money in our cities while they are here and it speaks well when residents and employees are helpful by giving directions or assisting them with their purchases.
So again, thank you to all that made this year's Redneck Barbecue a success and we are looking forward to next year's competition.
Now that fall has arrived, plans are under way for the Elks Lodge/SACC DARE window painting contest. The painting will take place Saturday, Oct. 21, in downtown Sikeston. Club/winners are chosen by category and will receive cash prices. If your interested in participating, contact Pam or Laura Beth at the chamber office for an entry form.
I want to thank the Downtown businesses that let us use their windows for this contest.
November will be busy with our Soccer League's Annual Tournament and the Christmas Open House in Downtown Sikeston. Please support these communitywide events that have a huge economic impact on our area.
Finally, I want to mention our Website, www.sikeston.net. Please check it often for community events listed in the community calendar.
We also have a restaurant guide that has sample menus from our Chamber members in Sikeston, Miner, New Hamburg, Commerce and Kelso. In addition you will find information for planning weddings and other special events that might require caterers, equipment rental, florists and so on.
So make it easy for yourself and let you mouse do the work by checking our Website.
As always for more information about the Chamber and our events go to www.sikeston.net or contact us at 573-471-2498.
