ORAN -- The opening round of the Scott-Mississippi Conference girls basketball tournament got underway at Oran on Monday.
Both first-round games ended in 39-point blowouts.
No. 3-seed Scott County Central, led by Brionna Johnson's 24 points, defeated No. 6 Charleston 59-20 and No. 1-seed Delta, with Kaci Menz and Ashley Deprow scoring 20 and 18, respectively, defeated No. 8 East Prairie, 60-21.
Rianon Thesher topped East Prairie with nine points while Jerquawna Sherrell and Karia Simpson led Charleston with five apiece.
