BENTON -- Dewitte Ardell Myer, 88, died at 6:40 a.m. Dec. 13, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Aug. 15, 1918, at Neely's Landing, son of the late Clarence D. Myer and Estillee Clingingsmith, he was an inspector for General Motors and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II for which he received a Bronze Star. He was a member of the St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau, the Knights of Columbus 6420 in Scott City and the American Legion Post 369 in Benton.
On July 31, 1947, in Cape Girardeau, he married Mary Alvina Weissmueller who preceded him in death on April 6, 2005.

Survivors include: four sons, Mike Myer and David Myer of Jackson, Jim Myer of Cape Girardeau and Gary Myer of Benton; one daughter, Darlene Myer of Cape Girardeau; one stepdaughter, Sandy Luke of San Antonio; two sisters, Ruth Kester and Margie Craft of Jackson; and eight grandchildren, five great-
grandchildren and one stepgrandchild.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City with parish prayers to be held at 7 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus service at 7:15 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Rahab Isidor officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
