Speakout 8/24

Friday, August 24, 2007

I live on a little dead end street. It's very quiet and there are decent people that live here. But we have one little sour apple in our bunch that has Miner PD out on our road, in our little neighborhood, at least four to five days out of a week. If this Mine officer can make so many stops at one person's house, how come these people are never, ever arrested and put in jail or permanently kicked out?

I thought I had seen everything. I'm an older woman and I try to act like I'm an older woman. But we've got some young people here in town that are going without their clothes. I saw a young woman in Wal-Mart with her swimming bottoms on. She had a shirt on over that with nothing else from the waist up. You could see everything. I don't understand this generation. Are they wanting someone to notice them or are they just proud of what they've got? I think they looked a lot nicer when they had clothes on. And I think that people in this town would agree with me. I don't care what color you are, but dress like a lady or a man. Don't wear droopy pants and no clothes.

Here it is the second day of school at the new Junior High building (that used to be the middle school), and already a train has went through during rush hour. At 7:45 a.m. you are waiting in a mile long car-to-car back up for the train to go through to drop your children off at school and get to work. In addition to that, the traffic flow at the school and Salcedo Road is awful. It was backed up the first day of school so bad that a police officer was standing on Salcedo Road directing traffic. I don't see this problem at any of the other schools here in Sikeston, so I don't know why it is so terrible at the Junior High. Anyone have solutions other than leaving your house at 7 a.m. before you have to go to work at 8 a.m.?

I wanted to thank you people who prayed for the man and his kids, whose father put him out on the street. Thank you all for your prayers. God bless.

I would like to speak out about family. My mom recently passed away and at the funeral home and my family didn't acknowledge me or my family. They were very rude. They have treated other family members and friends the same way. At the funeral home the preacher stated that all of us had a chance to see our mother again someday. As I sat there, I wondered what mom would have thought about the way they acted. And more importantly, what would God think. Do you think they will see mom again? I'm not judging, God will hold them accountable someday.

Hey Mike, I'm calling you about the bad policy costs taxpayers millions. Well you say if we put any harsh words in SpeakOut or anything, you won't publish it. You better read that last line you put in your paper down there. I really got a kick out of it. When you said that nameless bastard may never be punished is the real crime. I really got a kick out of it when I read that article of yours. Thank you very much for putting it in there.
