SIKESTON -- Dorothy Kathryn Clayton, 93, died Aug. 25, 2007, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born June 19, 1914, in Hayti, daughter of the late Rev. Allen Dodd Rankin and Anna Parker Rankin. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she taught the Philathia Sunday School Class for several years, Eastern Star, Missouri State Teachers Association and Daughters of the American Revolution. She taught in the Sikeston Public Schools for more than 30 years and, after a brief retirement, did volunteer work in the schools for 15 years and was a volunteer for Missouri Delta Medical Community Hospital for several years.
On July 4, 1937, she married Orman Dean Clayton, who preceded her in death in 1972.
Survivors include: one daughter, Dorothy Dean Brown of Sikeston; one grandson, William Clayton Winans of Los Angeles; three nieces, Rubye Woodburn of Sikeston, Mary Porter of Seal Beach, Calif. and Wanda Slinkard of Springfield; one nephew, Edward Clayton of St. Louis; and special family friends, Robert and Lana Taylor of Sikeston.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Geoff Posegate, pastor of First United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be: Robert Taylor, Derek Gardner, Brian Winans, Charles Gardner, Charles Springs and Clayton Winans.
