ORAN - Dick Davis, 94, died at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 25, 2007, at his daughter's home in Chaffee.
Born Dec. 2, 1912, in Batesville, Miss., to the late James and Lula Bankston Davis, he was a retired self-employed farmer and a member of the First Baptist Church in Oran.
On Feb. 18, 1935, he married Mary E. Buell, who preceded him in death on April 20, 2005.
One son, Jim Davis; two daughters, Mary Penhale and Sue Hagan; one brother, five sisters, and three grandsons also preceded him in death.
Survivors include: three sons, Leon Davis of Monroe, La., Bill Davis of Valrico, Fla. and Glen Davis of Oran; four daughters, Peggy Lape and Jane Swain of Chaffee, Lavern Warren of Greenwood and Janice Trankler of Oran; one sister, Maybelle Pitcock of Pope, Miss.; and 31 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Oran, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Ed Carter will officiate.
Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Garden, near Morley.
