SIKESTON -- Essie Bee Crenshaw, 98, formerly of Charleston, died May 9, 2007, at her granddaughter's home.
Born July 25, 1908, in Clarksdale, Miss., daughter of the late Sam Hawkins and Minnie Wilson, she had lived in Missouri for over 80 years and owned and operated a cafe with her daughter, Willa Mae Carthon, for many years in Charleston. She was of the Baptist belief.
Survivors include: her great-grandchildren, Donnie Johnson and Montee Lewan Crenshaw of Bloomington, Ill., Sonja Vashawn Hill of Chicago, Charles Alfred Crenshaw Jr. of Atlanta and Courtney Allyson Crenshaw Turner of Sikeston; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. Saturday until service time at 11 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. J.L. Posey will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
