SIKESTON - Mrs. Marshall Duncan entertained Sunday afternoon with a birthday party for her son, Marshall Duncan Jr.
CHARLESTON - John L. Chilton has been appointed manager of Associated Natural Gas Co. operations in Charleston, Bertrand and East Prairie and all of Mississippi County. The company has more than 2,600 customers in his area.
SIKESTON - Daniel Ward assumed the position of city manager for Sikeston this morning. Ward brings to Sikeston 20 years of Navy duty as well as nearly five years experience in city government at Guthrie, Okla., where he had served as city manager and general manager of the public works authority since 1983.
SIKESTON - Thanks to the Missoula Children's Theater, children in the Sikeston area will be given the opportunity to perform in this year's production of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." Auditions will be at 4 p.m. Jan. 7 at Lee Hunter Elementary School.
SIKESTON - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson visited the Bootheel Food Bank to make a special presentation to Doreen Johnson. In October, the President signed into law, the Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Food Donation Act, a measure that Johnson, executive director of the Food Bank, helped to counsel the late Bill Emerson, former representative, on its merits. Mrs. Emerson presented Johnson with a framed copy of the Act for the Food Bank.
MOREHOUSE - The Sikeston Elks Lodge presented two students from Morehouse Elementary School $50 savings bonds. Kyle Casey and Kayce Kelley were chosen as the Lodge's "Just Say No" Club outstanding students of the month.
