SIKESTON - A student loan fund has been set up at the University of Missouri for graduates of Sikeston High School. This student loan fund is known as the Louis Dent Baker and Mabel Matthews Baker Scholarship Loan Fund.

SIKESTON - Snow! It's wonderful! It was the biggest snow of the winter. Accumulations ranged from five to nine inches in the Bootheel. The ground cover measured 5 3/4-inches on Highway 60.

SIKESTON -Unit leaders and den mothers of the Okeechobee District received tickets and information about the district Boy Scout exposition at 2 p.m. March 18 at the Armory at a Scout round table last night at the First Christian Church. Tickets will be sold by Boy Scouts.

BENTON - Four Chaffee residents were arrested Monday in connection with the investigation of selling "kiddie dope" in an area high school, according to Scott County Sheriff Bill Ferrell. Charges with felonies of delivery of an imitation controlled substance were filed.


NEW MADRID - A resolution seeking funding for the New Madrid Council of the Arts and another for leasing a building for the group were among items approved by the City Council during its Tuesday evening meeting.

SIKESTON - For the eighth straight year the top Girl Scout cookie salesman is Tanya Standridge, who sold 430 boxes of the popular treats. The local youngster has led the scouts in cookie sales since she started in Daisies. She is currently working on the Girl Scouts' highest award, the Gold Award.


SIKESTON - Sikeston wrestlers Andrew Felker, a junior, and Doug Wiles, a freshman, both qualified for the state wrestling tournament at the Hearnes Center in Columbia, Thursday, beginning at 12:45 p.m.
