MATTHEWS -- Velda Rea McClain, 89, formerly of Matthews, died at 1:30 a.m. Feb. 18, 2007, at the Golden Living Center in Dexter.
Born Sept. 12, 1917, at Searcy, Ark., to the late Norman and Vivian Barnett Finley, she was a housewife and had attended the Assembly of God Church in Canalou.
On Aug. 26, 1942, at New Madrid, she married Wilmer E. McClain, who preceded her in death on March 3, 1986.
Two sons, one daughter, one brother, one sister and one grandson also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Clarence Alfred and Linda McClain of Malden and Danny and Sharon McClain of Blanchard, Okla.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Anita Cox of San Antonio and Doris and Larry Davidson of Morehouse; and 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today at Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Jerry Chaney, pastor of Parma Church of God, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Matthews Cemetery at Matthews.
Pallbearers will be: Michael McClain, Chris Padilla, Ronnie McClain, Michael Horton, Matthew Horton and Austin Russom.
