DEXTER -- Wilma J. Owens, 79, died March 31, 2007, at the Cypress Point Health Care in Dexter.
Born Feb. 1, 1928, in Bloomfield, daughter of the late William R. and Eva M. Bennett Willis, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter, Friends of the Dexter Library and past president of Dexter Hospital Auxiliary. She was a former board member of Girl Scouts Cotton Boll Council, former Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader and Dexter's Woman of the Year in 1981.
On March 16, 1952, in Dexter, she married Fred A. Owens who preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 2000.
One son, Kevin Lyle Owens; and one grandson, Kyle Aaron Bagby, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Mike Bagby of Dexter; one sister, Helen Duggins of Lockwood; and two grandchildren, Britney Bagby and Ryan Bagby of Dexter.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday. Dr. Kevin Chenoweth will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
