SIKESTON - The city of Sikeston has filed suit against Scott and New Madrid counties as a last resort to finalize their withdrawal from the bi-county E911 project. According to City Manager Steve Borgsmiller, they had no choice. "This action will allow us to do what we had in good faith believed this 911 system was going to be as an improvement for the city of Sikeston. It is the council's belief that the plan offered was not in the best interest of the city," Borgsmiller said.
SIKESTON - Power lifter Ken Moore of Sikeston captured four first place wins and multiple state titles in 1996 and won first, second and third place trophies in national competition in Las Vegas in December. He is looking ahead to a summer trip to Germany for international competition. "It began as a way to lose weight and quickly became a passion in the early stages encouraged by Jerry Denning," he said.
