SIKESTON - Resignation of Jim Musick as manager of the Chamber of Commerce was announced today by President Ray Clinton. His resignation is effective tomorrow. He and his family will continue to live in Sikeston.


SIKESTON - The Rev. T.A. McDonough, pastor of the First Assembly of God Church, was chosen president of the Sikeston Ministerial Alliance Thursday at its monthly meeting at the Rustic Rock.

EAST PRAIRIE - Bryant Grant Mainord, 3, son of Kevin and Mary Anne Mainord, and Meredyth Leigh Thurmond, 3, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Thurmond, were named Little Mr. and Miss East Prairie at ceremonies conducted in the East Prairie High School Monday night.


SIKESTON - The Sikeston Department of Public Safety Smoke Busters Muster Team placed first in two events during the annual Cape County Firefighters Muster in Jackson on Saturday. The Sikeston Smoke Busters team consisted of Sgts. John Mallott and Drew Juden and officers Tommy Bridger, Keith Brown and Paul Boyd.

HOWARDVILLE - The Lincoln University Cooperative Extension visited Howardville on Saturday to conduct a Youth Field Day Workshop. Miss Conley spoke to the young adults about Employment Security. The topics of conversation in various classes ranged from playing games, cultural learning, safety, nutrition and drug awareness.


SIKESTON - The Scott County Health Department conducted flu shots Friday morning at the Heritage House. Several hundred senior citizens got their injection in hopes of avoiding getting ill during the upcoming flu season.
