CARUTHERSVILLE - A missing teen is home safe.
Maria Guadalupe Fields returned home at around 4 p.m. Saturday, according to a news release from the Caruthersville Police Department. Law enforcement officials had been looking for the 15-year-old girl since here family reported her missing Jan. 8.
According to Caruthersville City Marshal Chris Riggs, the girl had left of her own free will from the family residence and was not abducted.
At approximately 6:30 p.m. Saturday officers arrested Jorge Alverado, 20, of Memphis, Tenn., on a warrant of first degree endangering the welfare of a child. According to the police report Alverado had taken the girl to Memphis.
Alverado is being held in the Pemiscot County jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
